The next generation of Proton Waja codenamed Proton P390A was previewed in local news Buletin Utama. The P390A, which is based on Mitsubishi Lancer will be launched in December 2010.

According to the news, Proton 'injected' some DNA of Proton and Lotus into this new Waja. I can see that the bumper look amazing, although a bit disappointed that Proton did only a minor job on the changes of the exterior design.

According to the news (in Malay language), Proton will be offering automatic and manual transmission along with 2 variants of engine, 1.8cc and 2.0cc. Proton promised that the price of the new Waja will remain 'competitive', albeit the fact that they are reluctant to announce it.

But stil copy =(
we must support our local car..:)
I want a Mazda 6. :|
i think it's a good call for proton to choose 08/09 lancer as the next waja. that car does look good.
i'm just worried how the interior of the car would look like. i truly hate it when proton makes their interior look too much like a toy
SIGH, why do they always have to copy??
Jeps: Lancer is more popular than a Mazda 6 in Malaysia, besides, both car are from different classes.
kusut: i'm sure it will be mostly identical to Lancer :)
J'@nn: Proton have to save cost in production, they have a new sedan (Persona replacement) coming next year.
not bad kete ni
what about those lancer GT Club got to say? :)
this model surely at least 20-30k cheaper .. my 10 cent guess

"The new Proton Waja will be introduced this year as well. Based on the Mitsubishi Lancer, the new model would carry a slightly HIGHER PRICE TAG as it will be offered with better performance and features."

From car maker to car re-brander?
