Proton Preve's taillights...

There's something weird I noticed about the Proton Preve. The picture shown above is a Preve with its brake lights on. Do you notice that the brake lights are actually lighted up by bulb and they are located in the inner part, on the bootlid? My friend and I immediately knew something is wrong with the setup when we first saw the Preve's brake lights on.

What is the use of LED light bulb you fixed there, Proton? For night time use only? You should know better that LED can light up faster, more durable and brighter than conventional bulb, and yet you give the frequently used brake light some conventional bulbs. Worse, the brake lights are located in the inner side. This doesn't emphasize the width of the Preve and is not in the optimum position to warn the driver behind the car!

I'm not criticizing that Preve is a bad car, not at all (check out my review here). But tiny matter like this is actually provoking people's mind on how undedicated Proton is making its car. Proton (if you are seeing this), the Preve seriously need to have a new taillight design when it is undergoing a facelift!

I knew the LED is for night time use only on the day they launched Preve. William got so disappointed!

I think is a matter of adjusting it on their BCM unit.

They should be able to do that without doing any design change.

Merryn: I didn't know that until I saw it on the road!

Anonymous: other than the LED reason, the rear lights design isn't really that 'clean', if u know what I mean.

Frankly speaking, most european cars have have separate brake light units for their home market, was surprised when traveling there too :)

the inner light should be rear fog lamp for UK specs..

The brake lamp should swap places with the rear fog lamp, which is below the signal lamp to avoid confusing those following behind, especially in Europe.Don't know what the designers at Proton were thinking when they designed this.As usual, they just don't take care of the details in their designs.
