Honda Freed - Grade S at RM100k

Honda Freed is a rare sight on our road. This is mostly due to its steep price tag at RM113k previously for the Grade E version of Freed. People would rather go for larger MPV with cheaper price by its close competitors. However, Honda has taken a step similar to how Perodua has done by introducing a (cheaper) SR variant for its Alza MPV. A Grade S of Freed is launched with a price tag of RM99,800 OTR with insurance. This is a huge RM13k reduction in price compared to the more expensive Grade E! Of course, lower price doesn't come without 'sacrifices'.

Both Freed Grade E & S will still be using the same outgoing powerplant. A 1.5litre i-VTEC engine with 118PS and 146Nm of torque at 4800rpm.

It's hard to differentiate a Grade E and Grade S Honda Freed. The only tale-tells from the exterior are the absence of rear spoiler and side mirror indicator. Grade S get manual sliding door (Grade E uses auto with remote operation), manual air-cond (Grade E is auto) and loses the Alpine DVD player in the Grade E. I believe many people will be able to make do with the absence of these comfort creatures isn't it?

Good news, other than those listed above, both variants have the same amount of safety features. Lower price doesn't mean lesser safety features for the Freed S. Hopefully the revised price tag will increase the sales of the Honda Freed!
