The Golf MkVII is slightly bigger in terms of exterior dimension compared to its predecessor, Golf MkVI. The wheelbase increased by 59mm and the overall length is 56mm longer than the outgoing Golf. This translate into longer interior length (by 14mm) and larger bootspace at 380litres (+30litres).
Next is the comparison of the 2012 Golf MkVII with the older Golfs in terms of safety features and equipments. Golf MkVII is getting Multicollision Brake, front transverse differential lock, progressive steering, Park Assist 2, City Emergency Braking, Traffic Sign Detection, Adaptive Cruise Control and LED fog lights, to name a few.
No info on the drivetrain yet, but it is mentioned that the fuel consumption and emissions of the Golf MkVII is reduced by up to 23%, where the lighter (but stronger) body which is about 100kg lighter (depending on variant) than its Golf MkVI contributed a lot in this area.
P.S. Check out my driving impression on the Golf MkVI 1.4TSi here.
